Pani Puri, Dahi Puri & Sev Puri: A Beginner's Guide to Chaat

"Chaat" covers a whole world of Indian street snacks, savoury, tangy, spicy, sweet, often all at once. If the menu looks a little overwhelming, here's a friendly guide to the classics.

Pani Puri

Hollow, crispy puris filled with spiced potato and chickpeas, then dunked in tangy, minty pani (flavoured water). You eat the whole thing in one bite, that burst of flavour is the whole point.

Dahi Puri

Same crispy puris, but topped with cool yoghurt (dahi), sweet and spicy chutneys, and a shower of sev. Creamy, sweet, tangy and crunchy in every bite, a great first chaat if you're easing into the spice.

Sev Puri

Flat puris loaded with potato, onion, chutneys and a generous pile of crunchy sev. All the flavour of chaat, no dunking required.

Where to start

If it's your first time, order Dahi Puri, it's approachable and a customer favourite. Feeling adventurous? Go straight for Pani Puri. Everything is 100% pure veg, with Jain and Swaminarayan options on request. See the full chaat menu and pick your branch.
